The concept of travel has been the foundation of migration, exploration, epic journeys and pleasure cruises. In all its varieties, whether by land, sea, air, time machine, spaceships, or portals, the creative concept of travel has sparked our imaginations and been the basis of invention and, innovation. SojournerCon celebrates the past, present and future of travel, real and imagined with a focus on the pivotal June 19, 1865 date of the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation in Galveston, Texas. This date theoretically marks the moment in United States history when travel without restrictions was granted to all people. With this as our foundation, SojournerCon seeks to explore both real and fictional travel means through the arts and sciences and to share unique methods of presenting the history and future of travel from a location that has been and continues to be a hub of travel activity .
Do you enjoy the epic journeys of Tolkein? Are you entranced with the NASA space programs? Do you enjoy perusing travel magazines or vintage car shows? Are the quests in roleplaying games an attraction? Are the sounds of distant train whistles a call to action? Do the concepts of steampunk and dieselpunk get your motor running? Do the fantastical travels of Jules Verne spark your imagination? If you are an aficionado of actual or imagined travel, then SojournerCon is for you.
From newsletters, to interviews with creatives and travel professionals, from literature, to artwork, to the convention experience live and/or remote, SojournerCon seeks to explore travel in all its varieties and subtleties and share it with the world. Join us on Facebook!
